I'm not for or against selling gold in the ingame store. I see some things that could go very wrong and things that could go great.

But what you said about feeling your never gonna achieve something......there is NOTHING you cannot acheive without 15k Armor and expensive weapons. 1k armor and collector weapons (hell if you want go buy the BMP and you will have good looking collector weapons

) will allow you to achieve the exact same things. Lets face it the initial cost of the 1k armor pieces would at first hit a new player but its not that much. Runes no longer cost loads like they used too and less expensive weapons are available.

But what you want from the sound of your post is to buy Prestige Armor - once you've bought that with RL gold its no longer an acheivement. Same with weapons,minipets ect. 15k armor does not equal fun.

It is still illegal, and violators will still be banned if they are caught.

It's like asking the government to sell illegal drugs, since there are smugglers who will sell these to people on the street. Does this imply that the government should sell these illegal drugs?

There is a balance point that can be reached here between real world costs. Sure, I could make the 30 plat by spending 8 hours a day farming. Or I could make $10 an hour working in RL...and then taking that money to buy that 30 plat.

There are plenty of other shiny things that I will never have with my play style. I won't have Master Explorer or Master of the North, but I would like to be able to play that game in a way that I enjoy.

I guess my point is that Anet should price the gold in a way so that the "1337" players that took 9 months to get their FoW armor won't feel jipped, but still be able to cater to the casual player who doesn't have that much time to devote.

I agree with avarre completely. What he has to say, if anyone actually took notice, pretty much sums up this argument. On those grounds i really don't see why ANet don't implement this as a viable counter to 3rd party gold sellers.

Actually Anet already took a step towards what you have suggested by selling skill unlock packs. But to sell gold might be a little over board i believe.

Yes and it only took them how many years to start banning people for this? Trust me anyone who wanted to buy gold has done so. Nothing would change by adding gold to the gw store other than who was profiting from it.

I play this game about 3 hours a day (during school weeks, holidays now so I play for about 10-12) but I STILL need to get off every hour for an hour because I share my computer.

I have broken the 100k mark 3 times. Very easy.

Don't spend your money on useless crap.. you make it sound like you don't merchant things =/

Actually I believe there will be. In the past, most people dislike ebayers. Anet took actions against ebay gold and people are thus ok about it. And if Anet start selling gold now, people will shift their unhappiness of ebayers to Anet. And I don't think they will want that.

So between your post saying someone was PMing you to this post, it was 21 minutes. Being generous, let's say that then you played with this person for 10 minutes to net your 25 gold.

I did an 8 minute run with heroes and henchmen in Varajer Fells in NM. The results are as follows:
71g for my share of gold drops
berserker horn - 20g
white great axe - 56g
white draconic spear - 44g
blue great axe - 118g
blue divine scroll - 58g
total profit = 367g

Obviously drops are random, so others may fair a little better or a little worse. But honestly, 25 gold in those 21 minutes between your posts? Wow.

Is 386g a great profit? Not at all, but assuming that drops continued at about the same rate, I could have made 1k in under 30 minutes. Given that that's a pretty average time in which to complete many missions throughout any of the campaigns, it's fairly obvious that you don't have to farm for hours and hours to make a few plat.

Edited because apparently I can't add simple numbers at 3:30 in the morning.

oh wait i know titles! see then the games not balanced anymore as those with money could simply purchase some titles leaving those without the means in the cold.

Seriously.. nothing special. I have bad luck with drops. All I've ever spent money on is good armor and the occasional tome. Not anything more.

I appreciate the thought, but I think that the points already made cover my argument. I think Mod terrik said it best.

Its actually not a very interesting thing to do when you spent 8-10hrs slogging your life out in the office, and got to farm for 3 hrs in gw at home just to get nice weapons in one months time.
